Selena's Life
Selena was born on April 16, 1971 into a musical family. She was the youngest in her family. She had one brother, Abraham, and one sister, Suzette. When she was 3 years old her family told her she was too young to play an instrument so she decided to sing instead. Selena's most popular song was and still is "I Could Fall in Love."
Her father, Abraham, played in the band Los Dinos. He taught his children, especially Selena, to sing in Spanish. When she was 8 years old, she began performing with other relatives at the family restaurant, Parragallo, and at area weddings.
Selena sang with Los Dinos which made her become well known on the Tejano music scene. In 1987, Selena won the "Tejano Music Award for Female Entertainer of the Year." She was the first Tejano to sell more than 30,000 albums.
In 1992, she married Christopher Perez, the guitarist of her band. In 1992, she launched her own clothing line and two years later she opened two boutiques called "Selena etc."
